After reading the news that the wife of our most respectable man had passed away, a thought flashed my mind that causes me to be thinking hard lately.
“Just like that?”
And thanks to the extensive coverage by our media, I observed the notable crowds queuing to give their last wishes.
Yes, a life can be gone “just like that”. And I thought: At the end, what defines a person after his death, are the things that he had accomplished, the impacts (positive or negative) he had created or the soft touch he had reached into everyone’s heart.
Be it a few person, a family, a specialised field or the social community.
Some may say this is a form of seeking recognition. Probably, since esteem (which includes seeking recognition) is part of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Being second from the top of the pyramid, it is what humans seek after achieving more basic needs such as food, shelter, security, friendship and family – which doesnt affect us at all once we leave the world.
Hence, it would be good to list “leaving a legacy” as part of my ultimate life-long goal. In this case, leaving a legacy at an industry level sounds reasonable since I can match my interest with legacy. Now to think about how to go about reaching such an aim.
